A few days back, I came across an article published by a source overseas.
The title of their article :-
"India Drags China To International Court For COVID-19 War"
Their findings were simple outstanding and I give full credit to the investigative journalists who did a remarkable job.
In a nutshell, their article describes about how four research scientists - allegedly spies forking for China - working for a laboratory based in Canada, managed to bring strains of viruses that eventually landed in the city of Wuhan.
The plot thickens, with the death of a renowned Canadian scientist whose life's work was for a cure on HIV/AIDS.
In my understanding, what sparked Great Game India to execute a full fledged investigation, is obviously of how swift and deadly Covid-19 has managed to spread in every country, save for the Antarctica continent.
Questions that has been wedged in my mind; if indeed this was a biological weapon of mass destruction, was it tested before? Or is this a test bed to see how much damage can be exacted? Who will stain to gain from this chaos?
Let's go through a quick run through of virus in the recent years:-
2009 Influenza A (H1N1) Outbreak
- 1Swine Flu(or Pig Flu) - Influenza Type A
- 2Estimated Deaths - 151,700 to 575,400 total
- 3Declared a pandemic in 2009 which lasted 20 months.
2012 M.E.R.S Coronavirus Outbreak
- 1Also known as Camel Flu
- 2Deaths - 866
- 3Not declared a pandemic, due to low number of infections.
Neither of these two viruses caused much worry to us as we were reading the news about their emergence. It simply died down.
Behind the scenes though, there would be definitely scientists, virologists who would try to find a cure to the virus.

From the MERS virus case, an Egyptian virologist by the name of Dr. Ali Mohamed Zaki studied it, consulted with another renowned virologist from the Netherlands by the name of Ron Fouchier, who in turn gave the virus sample to Dr Frank Plummer; the Canadian researcher who works at the same lab as four suspected Chines agents.
Out of the four, the highlights seem to zoom in on one person; Dr Xiangguo Qiu.
Dr Xiangguo Qiu.
- Born in Tianjin, China
- Received her medical doctor degree from Hebei Medical University in China in 1985.
- Went to Canada for graduate studies in 1996.
- Later on, she was affiliated with the Institute of Cell Biology and the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health of the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg.
- In 2006, started studying powerful viruses, particularly with the Ebola virus.
Dr Qiu Studied Extensively About Viruses
- And their cross contamination between animals.
Primarily a bacteriologist, she shifted to virology. And was even received Governor General’s Innovation Award in 2018.
In between 2017 and 2018, Dr Qiu made several trips back to her homeland and Canada, collaborating with numerous research institutions and labs that are closely affiliated with the Peoples Liberation Army,PLA.
It is indeed suspicious, but if we were to think of this logically, the facts are profoundly staggering. I mean, which government or organisation won't try to bank in on such talent that would possibly reap these talents.
Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory
Short for NML, it's wing-arm health agency for the government, it has has multiple sites spread across the country.
Below is a list of their research work; it's an interesting spec.
Bacterial Pathogens - focussing on bacterial diseases such as tuberculosis and antibiotic resistant organisms.
Enteric Diseases - focussing on food and water-borne pathogens including E.coli and Salmonella.
Viral Diseases - addressing a range of viral diseases, including hepatitis and other blood-borne pathogens, respiratory viruses and viral exanthemata, such as measles.
Zoonotic Diseases and Special Pathogens - dealing with viral, bacterial and rickettsial zoonoses (diseases transmitted to humans from other species), such as West Nile Virus and Lyme disease, along with risk group 4 agents such as Ebola, Marburg and Lassa fever viruses.
HIV and Retrovirology - providing laboratory services and scientific expertise relating to HIV and emerging retroviruses.
The Science Technology Core and Services Division works with these divisions to provide technological approaches, including genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics.
There is also the Public Health Risk Sciences Division, which is a specialized resource that provides scientific knowledge and solutions to better assess public health risks and enable decisions, with specific attention to infectious disease threats transmitted from food, the animals, or the physical environment.
