Singapore’s 51st National Day Parade

Its Singapore’s first birthday after it’s Jubilee year last year. We thought that we would get tickets to go to the National Day Parade this year, but alas, we couldn’t.

Singapore National StadiumNDP 2016 this year will be held at the National Stadium, it’ll be officially her first time holding the celebrations after the National Stadium opened its doors a year back after a massive make-over, and a series of scandal-tainted episodes. 😷

The questions we ask ourselves, what are we expecting from this year’s celebrations? How do they stand out from the Jubilee celebrations last year? Would it be better? Does it have to outdo the last one?

The organizing committee are filled to the brim with army men. And from my experience when I was serving with SPF, they tend to give ass-cheap budgets for events, but, I say again but, the National Day Celebrations have been spectacular ever since I could remember!! Well much goes to the credit of the government for allocating the biggest budget for MINDEF.

This year we’ll be expecting the guy on the right to be behind the whole event:-

Going with the theme of Building Our Singapore of Tomorrow, the organizing committee stressed that it’ll mark the next 50 years of Singapore, and it has to signify, or conceptualize the futuristic aspects of our nation in the next 5 decades. And hence there will be the use of drones in capturing the events on the day itself, 3D projection displays and there will be indoor fireworks as well. What we’re expecting for this year is a montage of our late founding father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. I’d expect the organizing committee to pay tribute to him for his life’s work!!! And I sincerely hope that they will make it an emotional one. The man deserves that.

Other than the new futuristic stuff added into this year’s event, you can expect crowd favourites like the Parade and Ceremony, Military Tattoo with a Precision Drill Display, and State Flag Flypast will all be retained. And of course, so will the Outdoor Fireworks Display, a traditional crowd-pleaser. For folks who watch from home, will have to make do with watching the indoor fireworks from their TV sets 😆

The Little Red Blog also got news of  what’s in the funpack for NDP 2016:-

What do us @ The Little Red Blog do usually on 9th August you ask?

Usually out of traditional practice, we’ll head on over the the bay area, or as close as we can get to the Marina Centre area to catch a glimpse of the fireworks display, but since this year its going to be at the National Stadium, we’d suggest for you to head on over to Kallang area. And the best spot we have in mind? Is at Tanjung/Costa Rhu area. It’s just a stone throw area from Stadium MRT, and considerably near to Gardens By the Bay east.
